Pforzheim (pts020/16.01.2009/12:30) - Intersolar, the world's largest solar technology trade show, doesn't open its doors until May 27. But the show is already breaking the records set by Intersolar 2008. In 2008, exhibitors occupied a total of 76,000 sqm of exhibition space in seven halls. The fact that this total has already been surpassed in December 2008 gives the organizers good reason to believe that Intersolar 2009 will be a success. Indeed, the exhibition space planned for 2009 amounts to as much as 100,000 sqm in nine halls.

In 2008, Intersolar posted record growth in exhibition space of 120%, which was largely made possible by the move to the New Munich Trade Fair Center and the increased scope this offered. The show was hosted in Munich for the first time in 2008, after many successful years in Freiburg. With the further growth of 31% in 2009 to a total of 100,000 sqm of exhibition space, Intersolar again strengthens its position as largest trade show for photovoltaics and solar heat worldwide. Thus it further establishes its status as the leading international trade show for solar technology. According to the organizers' predictions, the entire space will be fully booked in two to three months.

"We welcome these figures and are very excited about Intersolar 2009. At its current size, Intersolar reflects the international importance of the industry, which will also experience significant growth over the coming year. This development is proof that we are going in the right direction with our trade Show", says Markus Elsässer, CEO of Solar Promotion GmbH, Pforzheim, one of the two organizers of Intersolar 2009.

Optimal sectoral segmenting at Intersolar 2009
Growth on this scale requires corresponding thematic and organizatorial coordination on the part of the trade show. The clear division of the show into the areas of photovoltaics, solar thermal technology and solar architecture makes it easier for exhibitors and visitors to find their way around. At the upcoming event, the area of photovoltaics production and technology will also be reinforced. For the first time at Intersolar 2009, the exhibitors in this area will be able to present their products and services in their own specifically designated hall. The new segment will be presented in cooperation with the PV Group, an initiative of the international semiconductor association SEMI, which is specialized in photovoltaics.

"We are sure that this structure, along with the optimized targeting of specific groups, represents the next step for Intersolar, both in terms of growth and in terms of quality," says Klaus W. Seilnacht, CEO of Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH & Co. KG, co-organizer of Intersolar. "The feedback we have received from the exhibitors so far clearly confirms that we are on the right track."

In the coming year, the structure of the international solar technology industry will again be examined in the conference and supporting program in a way which meets the specific needs of participants. At the fifth annual "PV Industry Forum" on May 25 and May 26, international experts from the photovoltaic industry will meet to exchange ideas and experiences. At the fourth "European Solar Thermal Industry Conference" - estec2009, which will also take place on May 25 and May 26, 2009, the key topics of the international solar thermal industry will be examined. In addition, the "Solar Gigawatts for North America" conference will also be held in 2009, in the run-up to Intersolar 2009. Over 2,000 visitors from Europe, Asia, Africa and America are expected to attend these and the other events comprising the Intersolar 2009 conference and supporting program.
