San Francisco (pts006/04.08.2008/08:00) - A few weeks after Intersolar Europe, Intersolar North America has also proved to be a major international success: 210 companies presented themselves at the first Intersolar event for the North American region in San Francisco, thereby helping the solar technology trade show to make an excellent start. As a result, Intersolar North America is already one of the biggest solar technology trade shows in North America, having welcomed more than 13,000 visitors to its opening event in San Francisco.

Intersolar Europe is the world's largest solar technology trade show. The first Intersolar event for the American region, Intersolar North America, which ended on July 17, has also proved a resounding success. "We are delighted that Intersolar North America has made such a good start. The numbers and the huge satisfaction among exhibitors and visitors show us that the solar energy growth industry in the USA has been waiting for a professional industry platform like Intersolar," says Markus Elsässer, Managing Director of Solar Promotion GmbH, one of the organizers of Intersolar North America and Intersolar Europe.

210 international manufacturers, suppliers and service providers from every area of solar thermal technology and photovoltaics exhibited at the event. The exhibiting companies at the first Intersolar North America trade show in San Francisco presented their products and services to interested trade visitors in an exhibition area covering approximately 10,000 square meters. This high level of success was also reflected in the fringe program, with more than 1400 participants attending a wide range of events on specialist subjects covering every aspect of photovoltaics, solar thermal technology and solar architecture.

The highlights of the conference program were the events on "Concentrating Solar Technologies" and "Innovative Concepts for Cells & Modules". However, the other events, featuring a total of 100 top-class speakers, were also strongly frequented as a forum for exchange and learning by solar industry experts and decision-makers. The fringe program mainly focused on the latest trends in the solar industry: this included discussions of international market developments as well as the latest findings in the development of solar thermal power plants and innovations in the field of thin film technology. "In only its first year, Intersolar North America already represents an outstanding success in terms of transferring our trade show concept to the American market. We look forward to building on this successful start in the coming years," says Klaus W. Seilnacht, Managing Director of Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH und Co. KG, the other organizer of Intersolar North America and Intersolar Europe.

In collaboration with SEMI, the world association of the semiconductor industry, Intersolar has therefore been able to send out a message of international cooperation for the energy supply of the future. "I applaud your efforts to strengthen our cooperation and fight climate change. Your actions are bringing together the best minds and brightest innovators who will help all nations reduce their dependence on fossil fuels," said Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor of California, in acknowledgement of this great success.

From the outset, therefore, Intersolar North America has positioned itself as one of the largest solar technology trade shows in the North American region. The dates have already been set for next year: Intersolar North America 2009 will take place in San Francisco from July 14 - 16, 2009.
