Seattle/ London (pte041/30.06.2003/16:02) - US software producer RealNetworks http://www.realnetworks.com and British mobile operator Vodafone http://www.vodafone.com have signed an agreement to provide Vodafone live! clients with audio and video services from RealNetworks.
Existing services for live! clients will be enhanced with multimedia streaming content, such as video clips or music concerts. The deal will also include one media download and the RealOne Mobile Player.
The Helix Universal Mobile Server and the Helix Universal Mobile Gateway are to enable audio and video services for standard formats 3GPP, RealAudio and RealVideo.
"The deal with RealNetworks for worldwide streaming technology will give our clients another way to enjoy the mobile experience," said Thomas Geitner, head of Vodafone's Global Products and Services Department.
RealNetworks download software will be available to Vodafone clients in 2004.
At the end of April Vodafone had over a million live! clients.
