BT and Yahoo become partners
New broadband service to start in September

London (pte050/17.06.2003/15:51) - British Internet provider BT Group http://www.bt.com and Yahoo! http://www.yahoo.com are planning to create a new Internet product under the name BT Yahoo! Broadband.

The service known as BT Operworld will undergo great changes as a result of the new partnership, with BT Yahoo! Broadband combining the access offers of BT with the contents of Yahoo! and supplying a number of new applications such as games, webcam services and music videos.

BT Yahoo! Broadband will be available for new clients in September. Customers of BT Openworld will be integrated into the new service in several phases.

"I think we will see a significant increase in our broadband services with this convincing product," said Pierre Danon, CEO of BT. The group hopes to have five million broadband clients by the end of 2006.
