European nanotech experts join forces
EU consortium launches English Internet portal

Stirling (pte028/25.02.2003/12:22) - The so-called 'nanoforum' consortium supported by the European Union has launched a pan-European Internet portal for nanotechnology research at http://www.nanoforum.org .

By providing an exhaustive source of information, the site aims to help European nanotechnology experts work together and make faster progress. It is also designed to give less developed countries in Europe better access to cutting edge innovations in the field and encourage young scientists to publish their results.

The site is to be continually updated with information on breakthroughs, publications, events, and calls for papers. Its databank-based architecture helps users find events by country, topic and date. Scientific institutions can be sought by name or country. The user can also look for websites relevant to a particular topic.

The consortium's German partner is the physical technology department of the VDI Technology Centre in Dusseldorf http://www.vditz.de/PhysTech . Further partners are the British Nanotechnology Institute, CEA-Leti in France, CMP Cientifica in Spain, Malsch Technovaluation in the Netherlands and Nordic Nanotech in Denmark.

Extensive information on nanotechnology in German can be found at http://www.nanonet.de .
