Unilever and its Seven Deadly Sins
Christian groups protest against brand names

Amsterdam/Vienna (pte017/06.02.2003/10:36) - Ice-cream bars named after the Seven Deadly Sins have been branded "wicked and blasphemous" by a Christian group. The new varieties of the Magnum bar, manufactured by Unilever, have enraged the Catholic "Christians for Truth" group in the Netherlands who say the bar has "trivialised" the Seven Sins.

The new Magnums are called Pride, Envy, Gluttony, Lust, Anger, Greed and Sloth and feature a pair of devil's horns on the packet. Unilever have said they did not intend to upset Catholic groups with the new ice-creams but that the aim of the campaign was to impress upon customers that there were seven new varieties. They added that the ice-creams were already on the market in several other countries. http://www.unilever.com
