Three Positions of the Women's Era – In Dialogue with VALIE EXPORT
Gallery Steiner, Vienna: Arthena Maxx · Gabriele Scharmer · Margot Holzapfel

Vienna/Bärnbach (ptp028/04.08.2026/15:45) - On 20 August 2026, Gallery Steiner opens an exhibition that brings the contemporary Women's Era into sharp artistic focus. Under the title "Three Positions of the Women's Era – In Dialogue with VALIE EXPORT", three Austrian artists enter a powerful, intergenerational conversation with the radical feminist icon VALIE EXPORT, who passed away in 2026.

Arthena Maxx – Feminist Provocation Meets Economic Intelligence

At the center of the exhibition stands the internationally active artist Arthena Maxx, portrayed in July 2026 by Forbes Austria and Kurier as a pioneer at the intersection of art, financial engineering, and corporate development. Her newly created series consciously references the radical visual language of VALIE EXPORT—yet not as repetition, but as a 21st?century evolution.

Maxx transforms the lived realities of today's women—femicide, sexualized violence, date?rape drugs, MeToo experiences, economic dependency, single mothers without alimony, beauty pressure, female poverty—into a visual language of empowerment. Her sculptures and paintings employ sharp ruptures, provocative interventions and an aesthetic severity that challenges viewers while asking: How much resilience does the Women's Era require today?

Gabriele Scharmer – Body, Resonance and the New Femininity

Burgenland?based artist Gabriele Scharmer presents female nudes and portraits under the subtitle "Trapped in Sexism? Or a Facet of the Relationship Game?"

Her works—executed in various techniques—open a resonant field between vulnerability and strength, between self?image and external perception. Scharmer reveals the "New Femininity" as a dynamic tension that constantly redefines itself while remaining deeply rooted in social structures.

Margot Holzapfel – Chromatic Ecstasy as Liberation

Lower Austrian artist Margot Holzapfel provides the exhibition's exclamation point with an expressive, color?intense series that transforms the female body and experience into chromatic ecstasy. Her works are energetic eruptions that turn the inner outward: a breaking of roles, a flare of emotion, a liberation through color. Holzapfel demonstrates how color itself becomes a feminist medium—loud, vivid, impossible to overlook.

A Gathering of Minds – Art, Investment and the Feminine Principle

The vernissage will attract family offices, private bankers, asset managers and collectors who understand art as part of their investment strategy. At the same time, it becomes a celebration of the Women's Era—a moment of awareness that every human being originates from the body of a woman, and that this primal force deserves love, respect and recognition.

It is a celebration for women and men, for people of every origin, religion, identity and color—an expression of the divine consciousness of our shared existence. In the spirit of unity, carried by peace, respect, harmony and human dignity, the exhibition invites viewers to rediscover the power of the feminine.
