Zurich (ptp013/19.08.2020/10:00) - The Belgian artist Lode Coen announced today that his artwork "Bull Thistle Color" has been selected as a finalist by the jury of the ARTBOX.PROJECT Zurich 2.0. His artwork will thus be exhibited in the original as part of the ARTBOX.PROJECT at the SWISSARTEXPO from 20 - 24 August 2020 in Zurich Main Station. Visitors will also be able to enjoy 20 more of his artworks, which will be digitally represented on high quality HD screens. His current art catalogue will be available on site as well. The SWISSARTEXPO is an art festival in the heart of Zurich where artists of all genres come together in a varied and colourful exhibition in one of the most visited halls in Europe.

Born in Antwerp, Belgium, the artist found his way to digital art in 1984 when he discovered the limitless possibilities of creating in digital form on his first Mac computer. After a successful career in Silicon Valley and as a lecturer at various colleges in Europe, the USA, Russia and China, he devoted himself entirely to his passion for art, which had been dormant in him since his childhood. Today, the art chameleon works mainly in Belgium and Barcelona, where he constantly explores new techniques and forms of art by creating versatile and breathtaking series.

His latest series "Flowers" found its origin in the current Corona crisis. Isolated and torn from his daily routine, Lode Coen began jogging in the park every morning. There, in his newly discovered sanctuary in nature, he found inner peace. The scent of the flowers motivated him to pause and enjoy the peace and stillness to the full. "Stopping to smell the roses", as Lode puts it in words, inspired him to a new challenge to paint a flower every day for 30 days (the pictures are available on Instagram @lodecoen, https://www.instagram.com/lodecoen/ ). This way, thanks to this tremendous boost of his creativity, Lode Coen finalised the flower series, which was also unconsciously influenced by big artists such as Georgia O'Keefe, Robert Mapplethorpe, Vincent van Gogh and David Hockney.

The artwork "Bull Thistle Color" from the "Flowers" series also convinced the ARTBOX.PROJECT jury and was chosen as one of 10 finalists to be presented in its original form as part of the SWISSARTEXPO. The digital painting is printed in 75x75 cm format on Dibond and behind acrylic glass in Diasec (a Swiss photo lab method), which endows the work with an extraordinary brilliance of colors and a vibrant three-dimensional look. "Feel the real flower power", says the artist, who only regrets not being able to bring the fragrance of flowers to the visitors.

A further 20 works from the colourful "Flowers" series will also be part of the exhibition on large-format HD screens. Lode Coen's latest art catalogue will be available on site to give visitors an even deeper insight into his versatile repertoire.

His artworks will soon be represented on the renowned art platform ARTSY: https://www.artsy.net

His current art catalogue can soon be ordered worldwide on Amazon and in the online shop of ARTBOX.PUBLISH: https://artbox-publish.myshopify.com
