Rocking for a better Tomorrow
Global 2000 Tomorrow Festival: the green festival for music and Earth lovers

Vienna (pte015/24.04.2013/10:22) - The Global 2000 Tomorrow Festival is the green festival for environmentally conscious music-lovers.

The line-up for the festival at the Zwentendorf nuclear power station from Mai, 31 to June, 2 includes the Kaiser Chiefs, Die Fantastischen Vier, Marteria, Frittenbude, Itchy Poopzkid, Naked Lunch, DJ Hell, Sascha Braemer, Dusty Kid, Astrix (live), Krama (live) and many more.

Some 80 artists from home and abroad will be appearing on stage to campaign against nuclear power and for a better tomorrow through their work.

In fact, during three days, not one but three stages and several "areas" will see artists perform in all imaginable music genres so that there is something to suit every musical ear.

As environmental organisation, GLOBAL 2000 is not only focused on the artistic side of the event. Organisers want to show that festival-going and a sustainable lifestyle are not necessarily contradictory.

Indeed, free transport to the festival using public transport from Vienna has been provided. Festival goers also have the opportunity to bike to the festival together, saving an estimated 80 tons of carbon dioxide.

The food offered on site is entirely biological and of local produce. The fact that a lot of the food is vegetarian and vegan during the festival means the resources used in the production of meat are saved and its negative impact on the environment limited. Some 15455 litres of water are necessary to produce one kilogram of beef, whilst carrots only require 131 litres.

By using returnable containers for waste collection, the festival organisers are emitting 80 percent less greenhouse gas.

During three days, the site of the power station - which was never active - will be transformed into a spectacular venue, a centre for a civic society and into the home of over 20 NGOs who will host various side-events and workshops.
