Free app warns of pollen risk
European high-risk pollen map should help allergy sufferers lead a better life

Vienna (pte014/22.04.2013/10:43) - A European map localising the high-risk pollen zones should help allergy sufferers lead a better life.

The Smartphone app has been available to download in Austria from websites such as "Pollenwarndienst" and "Polleninfo" since last month.

The app will expand to cover Germany and France in the next few days and ultimately cover the whole of Europe.

The free app provides a personal forecast for the days ahead (no risk to very high risk) based on the individual allergy-symptoms directly to the sufferer's Smartphone. People allergic to pollen are then able to avoid highly affected areas.

Uwe Berger who is allergy specialist at the medical university in Vienna said: "Allergy sufferers give us their symptoms during five days, minimum. They are classified and then receive a personalised warning followed by their own personalised map."
