Zurich (ptp017/17.08.2020/11:00) - The renowned avant-garde artist Yumie Kusuda announces today that her artwork "Diamonds" will be digitally represented at the SWISSARTEXPO as part of ARTBOX.PROJECT Zurich 2.0 from 20 - 24 August 2020 at Zurich Main Station. Her recently published art catalogue will also be available to visitors on site. The SWISSARTEXPO is an art festival where artists of all genres come together in a diverse and colourful exhibition in one of the most visited halls in Europe in the heart of Zurich.

Inspired by the depths and mysteries of the human psyche, Yumie Kusuda finely handcrafts various metals, primarily aluminum and steel, and transforms them into sensuous works of art. The artist consciously allows the unconscious to glide to the surface of her mind and take shape in the form of diamond-like metal sculptures. She also explores self-discovery and self-development in extraordinary mixed-media paintings, in which she uses gems on fluorescent acrylic paint on aluminum board. Even though she sometimes shows us the confusion of the modern world, she hopes to promote our vision and actions towards the desired goals of self-realization and happiness.

Yumie was born in Hygo and later resided in Tokyo, where she worked as a photo retoucher until 2005. She then began studying painting at Musashino Art University, where she explored working with oil paints for the first time, using carefully selected black pigments and oil on aluminum board. These special materials gave her works their unique charm and differentiated her from other artists. Her black paintings first found their way into the public eye in various galleries and museums in Tokyo, Seoul, Los Angeles and New York. In 2012 she moved to New York to introduce her art to a worldwide audience. In the same year, she began creating her metal sculptures, which are so sought-after today. To date, her works have been exhibited in over 50 museums, galleries, and events.

The artist is also a member of numerous artists' associations, such as the "New York Society of Women Artists (NYSWA)", a historic group of professional women artists, where members are only accepted through a rigorous jury process. Her art has also been featured in the local New York press on several occasions.

From 20th to 24th August 2020, Yumie Kusuda's artwork "Diamonds" made of welded steel will be presented on high-quality HD screens as part of the ARTBOX.PROJECT Zurich 2.0 at the art festival SWISSARTEXPO in the venerable hall of Zurich's main station. This is already the second time that she honours ARTBOX.PROJECT with the presentation of her artwork. Her recently published art catalogue will also be available during the art festival to give visitors an even deeper insight into her impressive repertoire.
